Happy Fall

This past Sunday was the Autumnal Equinox. On that date daytime and nighttime were about the same. Starting on September 25 the nights became longer than the day. The day will continue to get shorter by 2mins 40secs each day until the first day of winter.

This week Pre-K, K, and first grade read "It's Fall" by Linda Glasser in order to know what changes to look for this season. Scientists are always looking for evidence of nature's cycles. Please encourage you children to be on the lookout for evidence of fall by looking at plants, trees, people, the weather, and animal behaviors.

Second grade used the balance scale to weigh rocks. We discussed how knowing an object's mass is one way scientists can make an observation. Last week we used the magnifying glass to observe the words and numbers on a penny.

Try to get outside this weekend and make some of your own observations of the changing season.
